Senior Manager Product Management
- Initial product manager in three groups tasked with building the product team while defining the initial product.
- Performed customer research to develop a new AWS high-availability incident management system.
- Researched and defined a new internally developed time and attendance system to pay Amazon hourly employees.
- Launched a revamped online return center (customer-facing workflow) with a new visual design language, resulting in a 36% improvement in workflow completion.
- Launched the mobile online return center in 11 countries across IOS, Android, and browsers simultaneously. Customers in Asia adopted the capability with over 35% of customers using the new version within 2 weeks.
- Reduced average time to refund customers by 13%, from 6 days to 5.2 worldwide.

Director of Product Engineering
- Development director for precision product line represents 850 thousand desktops, over $1B in revenue, and over $100M in margin dollars to the business.
- Managed 75 engineers covering development, storage, acoustics, and component qualification.
- Mentored junior engineers designing PCBs for high frequency while minimizing emissions.
- Transitioned development of workstations from in-house to Asian ODM over two product cycles.
- The team produced patent submissions 50% above the goal for 2009.
- Final approver of Engineering Change Order (ECO) for client products ensuring customer problems never returned.
- Directed six product development teams and qualification of hard disk drives for Dell client products.
- Launched the first business-class ultra-portable notebook (E4200), using an SSD as the primary storage device. Also, developed Dell’s first business class 13-inch notebook (E4300).
- Managed weekly executive review of project status for notebook and desktop projects. Produced agenda, managed meetings, and provided weekly minutes and actions.
- Two years as North American business continuity or disaster recovery lead for engineering.

- Budget authority for a team of 45 people in San Diego & Hayward CA; direct leadership for BIOS, software, electrical, mechanical, validation, systems engineering, configuration management, document control, technical support, sustaining engineering, and customer service.
- Executive sponsor for two European accounts with multi-year projects that represent over $35 million in revenue.
- Architect for Linux-based software installation process for factory software installation. Reduced system configuration time by 25% and manual labor by 30%; also used by customers for field updates of Internet phone/kiosk system.
- Supported sales and customers to deliver new strategic business for Kontron, including on-site customer visits with the sales account team.
- Created a new product family of high-availability rack mount servers in 9 months from inception to production release.
- Reduced custom product development timeline from 20 weeks to 8 weeks (mechanical); design to prototype reduced to 8 weeks from 12 weeks (electrical).
- Restructured engineering organization to meet new corporate strategic direction including new core processes, new minimum job requirements, new job descriptions, and new tools for engineering development.
